A DIFFERENT PILGRIMAGE (2010- English – 109 minutes) – A feature length Documentary premiered at the India Pavilion of the Cannes International Film Festival in May 2010. It deals with the impact of ancient India on South East Asia covering Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, produced by Dr. Mohana Krishnaswamy, written and directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy. ‘Self – assessed by the Writer-Director as his best’.
TRACKING INDIAN FOOTMARKS (in four parts of 25 minutes each) – It narrates the impact of ancient India on South East Asia to an International audience unfamiliar with the Indian ethos.
5000 YEARS IN 50 MINUTES (2010 – English- 50 minutes) – The film gives a bird’s eye view about Indian history.
INDIAN IMPRINTS (2008 – English – 18 parts of 25 min. each) – An ambitious and unprecedented TV serial on the impact of ancient India on South East Asia. This 18-episode serial Written & Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, co-directed by Dr. Mohana and cinematography by Madhu Ambat was shot in 100 locations in 5 countries – Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam was telecast in 2008 on the national network of Doordarshan, besides DD – Bharati and DD – India. ‘Self – assessed by the Writer-Director as his best’.
HOME SWEET HOME (English 25 minutes ) A documentary on the Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai – celebrating its centenary in the year 2004.
INDIA-5555 (1998 – English – 4 parts of 30 min each) Written & Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, the series is about 5 Millennia of civilisational values, 5 Centuries of recent history, 5 Decades of democracy, and 5 Years of a new economic awakening.
CINEMAVAI THAVIRA (All Except Cinema) (1998 – Tamil – TV Serial in 9 Episodes of 25 minutes each) – Written & Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy the series deals with the story of Tamilnadu over a forty year period from 1947 to 1987 showing both the success and failure on various fronts of industry, commerce, agriculture, etc., teasing the Tamil audience about their addiction to cinema.
JAYA JAYA SANKARA ( English,Tamil & Hindi – 30 Minutes) Written & Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy the film traces the history of the Kanchi Kamakoti Sankaracharya Mutt from Adi Sankara to the 100th Birthday of H. H. Chandrasekarendra Saraswathy Mahaswamigal in 1994.
EZHU THALAIMURAI EZHUCHI (Seven Generations of Strife) (1988 – Tamil – 13-part Docu-drama TV Serial) Written & Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy this Docu-Drama series is about the history of freedom movement with special reference to the role of Tamils.
FOUR IDEALS (1987 – English – 30 minutes) The film navigates through Democracy, Secularism, Socialism and Non-alignment as the four ideals of freedom struggle.
WHEN THE WAVES CAME (1987 – English – 40 minutes) The film is about the Indian Intellectual Renaissance of the 19th century.
THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS (1987 – English – 20 Minutes) This film about the role of cinema in India’s freedom struggle with extracts from many films of that era was shown in the Indian Panorama section of International Film Festival and also screened by IAMHIST at Germany.
UNKNOWN FREEDOM FIGHTERS (1978 – English – 20 minutes ) – showcases Interviews with 16 freedom fighters spread all over India, representing every stage of freedom struggle from Pre-Gandhian days to Quit India Movement.
INDUS VALLEY TO INDIRA GANDHI (1976 – English – 2 parts of 2 hours each) Written, Produced and Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, this film narrates 5000 years of Indian history and culture. It was the first Indian film to be distributed globally by Warner Brothers.
“I” (1973 – English – 15 minutes) Written, and Directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, this is an experimental film exploring the Indian identity. It won the Special National Award as Best Short film of 25 Years, to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Indian Independence.
